• Brett Randell's Historic Record: Brett Randell, a bowler for New Zealand’s domestic team Central Districts, created a world record in first-class cricket’s 254-year history by taking five wickets in five consecutive balls. He also became the first bowler to take six wickets within eight balls in a professional match.
• Nepal Parliamentary Elections: In Nepal’s parliamentary elections, 14 women were elected to parliament, representing about 8.48% of the total seats. Among them, 13 seats were won by the National Independent Party, while one seat was secured by the Nepali Congress.
• Gary Kirsten Appointed Sri Lanka Coach: Sri Lanka has announced the appointment of former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten as the new head coach of its national cricket team. He will take charge as the head coach of the Sri Lanka men’s national team from April 15.
• Cheetah Population in Kuno National Park: The number of cheetahs in Kuno National Park has increased to 53. Female cheetah Jwala gave birth to five healthy cubs on March 9. This is considered a major achievement for India’s cheetah conservation efforts.
• India Among Top Arms Importers: Between 2021 and 2025, India was the second-largest importer of weapons and military equipment in the world. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Ukraine was the largest arms importer during this period.
• Shahed Drone Capabilities: The capabilities of the Shahed drone have been widely discussed in the context of tensions involving the United States and Iran. These drones are often referred to as suicide drones. Iran’s Shahed drone can carry 30–50 kg of explosives, travel at speeds of 180–200 km/h, and has a range of up to 2,500 km. It can be controlled via GPS. Variants include the Shahed-136 and the smaller Shahed-131. The estimated cost of these drones ranges between $20,000 and $40,000, and Russia has also reportedly used them.
