Asian U20 Athletics Championship 2026
India delivered a historic performance at the 22nd Asian U20 Athletics Championship held in Hong Kong, securing 19 medals (10 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze) and finishing second in the medal tally. This is India’s best-ever performance at a continental track and field championship held outside the country.
Key performances included Mogli Venkatram winning gold in the men’s 800m event. The women’s 4×100m relay team (Kajal, Bhavna, Aarti, and Nipam) won silver with a junior national record of 45.05 seconds. The women’s 4×400m relay team (Bhumika, Tahura, Sehnur, and Neeru) also secured gold, while the men’s 4×400m relay team (Piyush Raj, Syed Sabir, Ranjit Kumar S, and Mohammad Ashfaq) won bronze.
A total of 48 Indian athletes participated, including 30 men and 18 women. The event serves as a qualifier for the World U20 Athletics Championships scheduled in Eugene, Oregon, USA from 5 to 9 August.
AI Chatbot “Samadhan Didi” Launched
The Government of India launched an AI-powered chatbot named “Samadhan Didi” to help citizens register online complaints against government departments.
Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh described it as a step toward democratizing the public grievance redressal system. The chatbot enables citizens to register complaints in their own language without needing to know the concerned ministry or category.
The system automatically understands the issue, asks clarifying questions, identifies the appropriate department, and forwards the complaint to the relevant authority.
Obituary: Suman Kalyanpur
Veteran playback singer and Padma Bhushan awardee Suman Kalyanpur passed away at the age of 89, marking the end of an iconic era in Indian music.
Known for her melodious voice and versatile singing style, she built a rich musical legacy across Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Bhojpuri, and several other Indian languages.
