• B.P. Singh assumed charge as the Director General of Naval Armament at the Naval Headquarters. He is a 1994 batch officer of the Indian Naval Armament Services and has replaced Divakar Jayant. The DG Naval Armament is responsible for the procurement, storage, maintenance, and logistics of naval weapons and ammunition.
• Sabba Shol has been appointed as the first Kashmiri woman chief of the Srinagar Central Jail. She is a resident of the Paribagh area in Srinagar. In 2012, she secured the only open merit seat for the post of Superintendent of Police (Prisons).
• The state of Kerala has allocated 180 acres of land in Thiruvananthapuram to BrahMos Aerospace for the production of the BrahMos missile. BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile developed as a joint venture between India and Russia.
• The world’s largest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, has joined the United States’ Operation Epic Fury against Iran. It is the most expensive warship of the US Navy, with a cost of approximately $13.3 billion.
• Tamil Nadu has established the state’s first Dark Sky Park at Ariyur Shola Forest in the Kolli Hills region. A Dark Sky Park is a protected area where artificial lighting is restricted so that stars, planets, and the moon can be clearly observed.
