• Indian badminton player Devika Singh won her first BWF Super 300 title at the Thailand Masters 2026. The 20-year-old shuttler from Haryana defeated Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei in the final. She became the first Indian women’s singles player after P.V. Sindhu to achieve this feat.
• Indian-origin climate scientist Veerabhadran Ramanathan was awarded the Crawford Prize 2026, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Geosciences. His research demonstrated that climate change is caused by the combined effects of multiple greenhouse gases.
• Adampur Airport in Jalandhar has been renamed as Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport. Additionally, a new civil terminal was inaugurated at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana. Adampur Airport has been developed to strengthen air connectivity in the Doaba region.
