Taking five wickets in a T20 match is considered a remarkable achievement, but Brazil’s 21-year-old fast bowler Laura Cardoso has taken it to another level by claiming nine wickets in a single match.

Laura Cardoso has become the first cricketer in the world (men or women) to take nine wickets in a T20 International match. She achieved this historic feat on April 9.

Historic Performance

The 21-year-old all-rounder achieved this milestone against Lesotho during the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 International Tournament held at Botswana Cricket Association Oval 2 ground in Gaborone.

Cardoso delivered an extraordinary spell, taking 9 wickets for just 4 runs in 3 overs. Out of these, 2 overs were maiden overs.

Record-Breaking Achievement

This performance surpassed previous records in both women's and men's cricket:

• Rohmalia (Indonesia) – 7 wickets for 0 runs against Mongolia (2024)
• Sonam Yeshe (Bhutan) – 8 wickets for 7 runs against Myanmar (2025)
