Lokpath App 2: Madhya Pradesh's First Road Navigation App

Madhya Pradesh Becomes the First State to Introduce an App for All Locations

In Madhya Pradesh, as soon as a vehicle enters the state, there will be no need for Google Maps to reach its destination. The state’s Lokpath App-2 will provide detailed information about every location in the state. The app is being developed by the Public Works Department of Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with Gujarat’s Bhaskaracharya Institute.

This app will cover everything from national highways, state roads, and major district roads, to all types of roads across the state. It will not only provide route alternatives but also offer information on religious and tourist places along the way, including police stations, hospitals, hotels, toll plazas, toll rates, and more.

According to Madhya Pradesh's Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, this is the first time a state in India is launching such an app. The goal is to ensure quality construction of roads, bridges, and buildings, and to provide a platform where the general public can register complaints about construction works, which will be addressed within a fixed time frame.

The app aims to provide more detailed information than Google Maps, as it will feature layers of data from the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti Portal, which includes all national highways and roads. The app will also show important sites, including religious and tourist destinations, hospitals, police stations, and hotels, all in one place for easy access.

Black Spot Warnings on Roads

Madhya Pradesh has over 450 black spots (accident-prone areas) across its 142 highways. The Lokpath App-2 will notify users a kilometer before they approach a black spot, advising them to slow down. A second alert will appear when they are 200 meters away from the black spot. This feature is not available on Google Maps. In case of an accident, the app will suggest the nearest hospital and allow users to make direct calls to emergency services such as ambulances or dial 911.

The app will be beneficial for both locals and visitors, ensuring safer travel across the state, while providing easy access to key information about routes, emergency services, and essential amenities.
