Agriculture Cabinet in Every District to Begin from Nimar Region, Government Finalizes Framework
Madhya Pradesh is set to launch an Agriculture Cabinet. Under the leadership of CM Mohan Yadav, the government has introduced a new initiative during the Farmer Welfare Year 2026. The first Agriculture Cabinet meeting is expected to take place in March in either Khargone or Khandwa districts of the Nimar region. Key proposals from the Departments of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare, Horticulture & Food Processing, and Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development will be discussed.
Farmers from the state will travel to Brazil to learn advanced techniques in animal husbandry. CM Mohan Yadav stated in the planning meeting that increasing farmer income in every possible way is the core objective, achievable by boosting crop yield and productivity. Over one crore farmers in the state will benefit from the inclusive model themed “Prosperous Farmer – Prosperous State”, celebrating 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year (Agriculture Year).
During this year, a strong marketing system for agricultural products will be established, alongside promoting food processing. The CM emphasized distributing high-yield seed varieties, promoting digital and innovative agricultural mechanization, encouraging organic farming, supporting agricultural startups and FPOs, developing district-based agricultural clusters, and promoting crop diversification as the main objectives of the Agriculture Year.
CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that farmer welfare is a mission for the government. To achieve this, Agriculture Cabinet meetings will be held in various districts, starting from the Nimar region. All important decisions for farmers will be made during these field-based meetings.
The CM also highlighted the environmental benefits of farming. In the Nimar region, the increase in farming benefits and expansion of irrigation facilities has encouraged more farmers to adopt agriculture. The region has seen extensive greenery, resulting in a temperature drop of four degrees compared to earlier. This achievement motivates further efforts for farmer welfare.
