Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly to Go Paperless and Digital

In the new year, the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly will become completely digital and paperless. The digital system will be implemented during the budget session of the assembly. MLAs will be given tablets, and their questions and answers will also be digital. The state's budget will be presented on tablets by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Jagdish Devda. A tablet will also be placed on the tables of the legislators inside the house.

Before the budget session, the National e-Vidhan project will be implemented. On December 23, ministers and legislators will be trained in the Manasarovar Hall of the Legislative Assembly. This training will be provided by experts from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs of the Government of India.

It is mandatory for all legislators to attend this important training program. In this regard, Madhya Pradesh Assembly's Principal Secretary Arvind Sharma has issued a letter to all the legislators under the directions of Speaker Narendrasinh Tomar.

So far, 23 states have signed MOUs to implement the e-Vidhan project sponsored by the central government. The project has already been implemented in over 14 states.

What is e-Vidhan?

The National e-Vidhan Project (NEVA) is an e-Governance initiative by the Government of India aimed at making all state legislatures completely digital and paperless. The goal is to digitize legislative work such as questions, bills, and reports on a shared digital platform, thereby increasing transparency and efficiency.

The project follows the principle of "One Nation, One Application" and is part of the Digital India program. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, has been designated as the nodal department for this project. The central government will bear 60% of the total project cost, while the state governments will bear 40%.

The NIC (National Informatics Centre) will collaborate at the district level for this project. A committee of legislators has also been formed to visit states where this project has already been successfully implemented. Special attention is being given to cybersecurity for the e-Vidhan project.

Tablets, network infrastructure, e-learning, and e-facility centers will be developed to ensure smooth implementation. For the convenience of legislators, district NIC centers will be designated as nodal training agencies, ensuring that MLAs can conveniently benefit from this service.
