Madhya Pradesh Digital Census Shows Record 100.61% Progress
Madhya Pradesh’s digital census (house listing field operation) has reached its final stage, and official data till May 23 presents a surprising picture of development and administrative efficiency in the state.
The state has achieved a historic 100.61% progress, surpassing all earlier estimates. Based on previous records, around 2.36 crore houses were expected, but field workers have already identified more than 2.38 crore houses.
This means around 1.44 lakh more houses have been recorded than government estimates, reflecting faster-than-expected growth in housing and colonies across Madhya Pradesh.
Smaller districts have outperformed major urban centers in several cases. Khandwa rural region topped the state with 107.55% progress, while Ujjain municipal corporation recorded only 94.51%.
Newly formed Pandhurna district achieved 102.39%, while Bhopal district stood at 98.14%. Tribal districts like Alirajpur (101.29%) and Jhabua (100.92%) also crossed the 100% mark, while Indore municipal area lagged behind at 97.25%.
In the Chambal-Gwalior region, Gwalior (102.49%), Guna (102.61%), and Shivpuri (101.73%) performed strongly. Bundelkhand districts like Niwari (102.63%) and Sagar (100.16%) also showed good progress.
In central and Malwa regions, Rajgarh led with 104.62%, followed by Dhar (101.55%), Shajapur (101.44%), and Mandsaur (101.33%).
Three major reasons have been identified for slower progress in major cities like Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain:
1. Entry restrictions in high-security and premium residential societies.
2. Empty houses during daytime due to working couples.
3. Lack of initiation in 2 blocks under Bhopal municipal limits.
