Madhya Pradesh Forms High-Level Committee to Draft Uniform Civil Code

The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) by forming a high-level committee.

The committee is headed by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prasad Desai. It has been tasked with reviewing laws related to marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, and live-in relationships.

The committee will examine existing legal provisions and prepare a comprehensive draft for the proposed Uniform Civil Code.

As per the government's directive, the committee is expected to submit its report along with the draft bill within 60 days.

This move indicates the state's proactive approach towards legal reforms and standardizing personal laws across different communities.
