Madhya Pradesh Introduces National and State-Level Awards
The Government of Madhya Pradesh has established 8 new awards to promote science, social research, engineering, innovation, and indigenous knowledge systems. These awards include 4 national-level awards and 4 state-level awards.
A national-level social science award has been established in the name of Nanaji Deshmukh, who made Madhya Pradesh his karmabhoomi and founded the Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) in Chitrakoot.
A state-level social science award has been introduced in the name of Dr. Harisingh Gour, the founder of Sagar University.
A national award for the popularization of science has been named after Jayant Rai Sahasrabuddhe, former National Organization Secretary of Vigyan Bharati.
A state-level indigenous science award has been established in the name of archaeologist Dr. Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar, who discovered Bhimbetka.
According to the Department of Science and Technology:
- National-level awards will carry a cash prize of ₹5 lakh.
- State-level awards will carry a cash prize of ₹2 lakh.
- The awards will be applicable from the year 2024-25.
- Applications can be submitted online and offline till 11 July.
- The selection process will be completed between October and December.
