Madhya Pradesh to Remove Two-Child Rule for Government Jobs After 25 Years
In a major policy shift, the Madhya Pradesh government is preparing to remove the restriction that barred individuals with more than two children from obtaining government jobs.
Even applicants with more than two children may soon remain eligible for government service. The state government is set to withdraw the two-child condition after 25 years.
The General Administration Department had prepared a proposal to amend the rule after consultation with the Law Department. The proposal has now received approval from the senior secretaries committee headed by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain.
The proposal will now be presented in the upcoming cabinet meeting for final approval.
Madhya Pradesh implemented the rule on January 26, 2001, under which individuals having a third child were disqualified from government jobs. Employees already in service also faced termination if they had a third child after the specified period.
Due to this provision, several employees, including teachers and staff from other departments, lost their jobs. Some related cases are still pending consideration.
