Shri Anna Laddoo Prasad to Be Available at Mahakaleshwar Temple After Diwali

Devotees visiting the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain will soon be able to receive prasad made from Shri Anna (millets), starting after Diwali. These laddoos will be made using ragi (finger millet), jaggery, dry fruits, and pure desi ghee, and will be available at ₹400 per kilogram.

Currently, the temple prepares around 40 to 45 quintals of traditional besan laddoo prasad daily. Now, to promote better health and awareness of millets, the temple committee has decided to include millet-based laddoo as an offering option.

Administrator Pratham Kaushik informed that the temple presently offers besan laddoo made with pure ghee under the name "Bhog Prasad of Lord Mahakal", priced at ₹400 per kg. The new millet laddoo will also be priced the same initially and will be available at temple counters post-Diwali.

Healthier & Nutritious Offering

The millet laddoo will be both healthy and tasty, prepared using traditional ingredients like ragi, jaggery, dry fruits, and pure ghee. This is part of a broader initiative to encourage devotees to adopt millet (Shri Anna) in their diets.

New Production Unit at Annakshetra

The temple currently manufactures its laddoos at a unit located in the Shri Mahakaleshwar Vedic Research Institute campus in Chintaman village. However, for the millet laddoo, a new production unit is being set up closer to the temple, within the Shri Mahakaleshwar Annakshetra.

This new facility will focus solely on millet laddoo preparation, and for this, two dedicated chefs and over 20 skilled workers have been recruited.

Promoting Millets for National Wellness

This initiative is aligned with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s vision to spread the message of wellness from Mahakal’s abode to the entire nation. The aim is to promote the use of millets in daily life by highlighting their health benefits and cultural significance through temple prasad.
