The Mandav municipality is preparing to rename Jama Masjid Square to Vagdevi Chowk. A statue of Goddess Saraswati (Vagdevi) will be installed on a lotus pedestal at the square. The municipal body has approved the renaming, and the tender process for the statue has been completed.
Mandu Municipal Council President Malti Jayram Gawar and Councilor Jyoti Tiwari stated that the foundation-laying ceremony will be held on June 15, and all remaining formalities will be completed. Their goal is to rename the square and install the idol of Goddess Saraswati by Basant Panchami.
The proposal for the statue was passed in the Municipal Council PIC, and the tender process is done. The work will begin with a Bhoomi Pujan on June 15.
On June 12, several dignitaries visited the statue site, including Chaturbhuj Shri Ram Mandir’s Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Narsingh Das Maharaj, Mandal President Jayram Gawar, CMO Sant Kumar Chauhan, and architect consultant Waqar Shaikh.
The Only Chaturbhuj Ram Temple
Vagdevi holds a special place in the history of Mandav. The town is not only a significant religious and historic tourist site, but also the only place in the world with a temple of Chaturbhuj Ram. Every year, Mandav attracts thousands of tourists from across the globe, drawn to its ancient palaces and temples like Narmada Rewa Kund.
The installation of the Vagdevi statue will mark a new cultural milestone in Mandav's legacy.
