Mandhana and Georgia Power RCB to Second WPL Title
Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinched their second Women’s Premier League title by defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the WPL 2026 final played on February 5.
Delhi Capitals, who reached the final for the fourth consecutive time, once again fell short of lifting their maiden WPL trophy.
Delhi Capitals Post a Big Total
After losing the toss and batting first, Delhi Capitals posted an imposing total of 203 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. At that stage, it appeared that Delhi would finally secure their first WPL title.
RCB’s Fearless Run Chase
However, RCB batters had other plans. Powered by explosive half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Wareham, Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully chased down the 204-run target with two balls to spare.
Smriti Mandhana’s Match-Winning Knock
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana was the star of the final and played a captain’s knock under pressure. She smashed 87 runs off just 41 balls, striking at an incredible rate of 212.20.
Mandhana’s innings included 12 fours and 3 sixes. She brought up her half-century in just 23 balls, completely turning the momentum in RCB’s favor.
For her sensational performance in the final, Smriti Mandhana was deservedly named the Player of the Match.
