A meeting of the governing council of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU) was held at Samatva Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
During the meeting, key decisions were taken to modernize media education and make it more employment-oriented. The Chief Minister directed the university to introduce courses focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Media in line with current technological demands.
He also emphasized developing MCU as an advanced research institute in the field of media studies and conducting surveys related to public welfare schemes and their effectiveness.
New job-oriented programs will be introduced in Rewa and Khandwa campuses. Under the National Education Policy (NEP), one-year postgraduate courses have been approved.
The approved courses include:
- M.A. Journalism and Creative Writing
- M.A. Mass Communication
- M.A. Advertising and Public Relations
- M.Sc. Electronic Media
- M.C.A. (updated program)
The PhD admission process will now be updated as per UGC PhD Regulations 2022. The council also approved implementation of face-detection based attendance systems and establishment of printing and packaging labs for practical training.
Other administrative and academic reforms were also approved during the meeting.
