On August 25, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, JP Nadda, gifted Madhya Pradesh with 200 new medical seats. At a health department event held at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cultural Information Center in Jabalpur, he virtually inaugurated new medical colleges in Shyopur and Singrauli. Permissions for MBBS courses in both colleges were also granted. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was present at the event.

Minister Nadda stated that health reforms planned in Delhi are being implemented unprecedentedly in Madhya Pradesh, becoming an example for other states. He virtually inaugurated the two colleges and handed over the letters of permission for MBBS admissions to the state government.

JP Nadda informed that the central government has approved 100 seats each for the two medical colleges, and the admission process has started immediately. Contracts were also signed with investors for new medical colleges in Betul, Panna, Dhar, and Katni districts under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The Health Minister said India currently has a total of 780 medical colleges with 170,000 MBBS seats. The goal is to increase 75,000 UG and PG medical seats over the next 5 years. The NEET entrance exam is now conducted in 13 languages, enabling rural students to become doctors. Madhya Pradesh has also started MBBS courses in Hindi medium.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav mentioned that Madhya Pradesh had only 5 medical colleges in 2003, which have now increased to 32. About 15 new government medical colleges have been approved in the last one and a half years with rapid progress in construction.
