MP Government Forms High-Level Committee for UCC, Report Expected in 60 Days
The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a major step towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) by forming a high-level committee to review personal and family laws.
The committee will be chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prasad Desai. It will examine laws related to marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, adoption, and live-in relationships.
The objective of the committee is to study existing laws across different communities and develop a uniform, balanced, and practical legal framework.
The committee is expected to submit its report along with a draft bill to the government within 60 days.
Official Order Issued
The order regarding the formation of this committee has been issued by the Law and Legislative Affairs Department of the Madhya Pradesh government.
According to the order, different laws are currently applicable in matters such as marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, adoption, and live-in relationships. Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive review to establish a uniform and just legal system.
