MP Space-Tech Policy Expected by August 2025
On June 14, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a dedicated space technology policy during the ‘MP-Tech Growth Conclave 2025’. In line with his vision to transform Madhya Pradesh into a future hub for space technology and innovation, the Department of Science and Technology held a consultation on the topic “MP Space-Tech Policy: Opportunities and Challenges” at IIT Indore.
According to Mr. Sanjay Dubey, ACS of the Department of Science and Technology, the MP Space-Tech Policy will be officially launched by August 2025, and a roadmap has already been prepared.
Multi-Stakeholder Consultation at IIT Indore
More than 30 key experts, academic professionals, startup representatives, and defense & technology officers participated in the policy consultation. Mr. Dubey emphasized that the policy will go beyond basic infrastructure and incentives. It aims to promote innovation, retain talent, and position Madhya Pradesh as a leading state in space technology development.
Expert Insights on Space-Tech Domains
Prof. Abhirup Dutta (Dean of R&D) and Prof. Suhas Joshi (Director) from IIT Indore highlighted that space-tech is not just about satellites. It encompasses engineering, material sciences, data management, and national capabilities.
The consultation also addressed establishing an optics and optical communication cluster in Ujjain, development of regional data centers and satellite ground stations, promoting Make-in-India for payload and component manufacturing, domain-specific skilling, and supporting innovation and cybersecurity in space systems.
Experts recommended adopting distinct strategies for remote sensing and core space technology within the policy framework.
