Survey to Be Conducted on Rohingya Muslims in Madhya Pradesh

The issue of Rohingya Muslims has been a subject of national concern for a long time. Allegations suggest that they have illegally entered India and spread across various states. Some have reportedly been involved in anti-national and terrorist activities.

In Madhya Pradesh, a comprehensive survey of Rohingya Muslims will be conducted by the state police and intelligence agencies. Special focus will be on eight districts: Gwalior, Indore, Bhopal, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Khargone, Jabalpur, and Sheopur.

These districts are considered sensitive as past incidents have involved arrests of members from banned organizations like SIMI and agents of Pakistan’s ISI. Due to the high number of migrants in these areas, they are marked for thorough examination.

Following increased tensions between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of Home Affairs has once again initiated efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar, specifically targeting Rohingya Muslims.

A formal directive was issued by the Ministry to states, including Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, the MP Police Intelligence Department held a virtual meeting on May 21 with police commissioners and district superintendents to initiate the survey.

Settlements with high migrant populations are being identified for this operation. The survey aims to assist in national security efforts by pinpointing unauthorized migrants in strategically important regions of the state.
