No Computers in 59,000 Schools in Madhya Pradesh Despite Digital India Push
While the country is being promoted under the Digital India campaign, the ground reality in Madhya Pradesh tells a different story. Despite the inclusion of modern subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Coding in school curriculums under the National Education Policy, around 59,000 government schools in Madhya Pradesh have never seen a computer.
According to the academic year 2024-25 data from the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India:
- 66,000 schools lack internet connectivity.
- More than 10,000 schools still do not have electricity.
- Around 15,000 schools have irregular or no power supply.
This highlights the digital divide and infrastructure challenges faced by schools in Madhya Pradesh, raising questions about the feasibility of implementing a tech-driven education model in such conditions.
