No Processing, Meter Testing, or Installation Charges for Rooftop Solar in Madhya Pradesh
Under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, consumers in Madhya Pradesh will no longer have to pay registration, processing, meter testing, installation, or commissioning charges for installing rooftop solar panels.
The State Energy Development Corporation had filed a petition with the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission to remove these charges and introduce digital agreements in place of physical contracts.
Benefits for Consumers
The commission has approved the removal of these charges to ensure the successful and timely implementation of the scheme introduced by the Government of India.
The decision also allows the use of digital agreements instead of physical documentation, making the process faster and more convenient for both consumers and vendors.
5 Lakh Consumers to Benefit
This move is expected to reduce the cost of installing rooftop solar systems and accelerate adoption. Around 500,000 consumers in the state are expected to benefit from the scheme by March 2027.
