PM Modi Conferred with Cyprus' Highest Civilian Honor
On June 16, 2025, during his historic visit to Nicosia, Cyprus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the country's highest civilian honor, the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, by President Nikos Christodoulides.
This was a significant moment on the second day of PM Modi's visit, marking the first visit to Cyprus by an Indian Prime Minister in over two decades. The award ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, where President Christodoulides formally welcomed Prime Minister Modi.
Following a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders, President Christodoulides presented the prestigious award to Prime Minister Modi, recognizing his contributions to strengthening India-Cyprus ties and global diplomacy.
Expressing gratitude, PM Modi said, “This honor is not just for me, but for the 1.4 billion people of India.” The award adds to the growing list of international honors conferred upon the Indian Prime Minister.
