President's Rule has been implemented in Manipur. Prior to this, the state's CM, N. Biren Singh, resigned from his post on February 9. BJP's Northeast in-charge, Sambit Patra, has held several rounds of discussions with party legislators, but the deadlock continues. In the past two days, Sambit has met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla twice. The BJP has yet to decide on the new Chief Minister. Congress legislator Thokchom Lokeshwar raised questions about Sambit's visit to the state, suggesting that he should take a leading role in the appointment of the new CM by discussing with BJP legislators.

Previous and Upcoming Sessions of Manipur Assembly

The previous session of the 12th Manipur Assembly concluded on August 12, 2024, while the seventh session scheduled to begin on February 10 was canceled by the Governor.
