On December 26, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu awarded the Prime Minister's National Child Award to 17 children in 7 categories: Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Academics, Environment, Social Service, and Sports. The award includes a certificate and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. This award was first introduced in 1996.
Every year, the Prime Minister's National Child Award is presented to children who have shown exceptional achievements. These awards are given in 7 categories: Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Academics, Environment, Social Service, and Sports. For 2024, President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards today.
The President honored 17 children at the Rashtrapati Bhavan with the Prime Minister's National Child Award. This year, 17 children from 14 states and Union Territories were selected for the award, including 7 boys and 10 girls. The award ceremony took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, New Delhi.
Children selected for the National Child Award are presented with a certificate and ₹1 lakh in cash as an incentive. Some notable names among the awardees include Anish Sarkar, a 3-year-old chess player, along with Saurabh Kumar, Ayan Sajjad, Sindhura Raja, Rishik Kumar, Vyas, Om, and Jignesh. In total, 17 children received the award.
The Prime Minister's National Child Award was introduced in 1996, and since then, awards have been given each year across the 7 categories. The Bravery category was added to the awards in 2018.
