Revolutionizing India's Villages and Farmers' Welfare

Revolutionizing India's Villages and Farmers' Welfare

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that the overall welfare of villages, the poor, and farmers is the top priority of the state government. Our primary goal is to make them prosperous and empowered. To achieve this, we are celebrating the year 2026 as the Agriculture Welfare Year. Special efforts will be made for the development of agriculture-based industries this year. We will take every necessary step for the welfare of farmers by working together with all departments and voluntary organizations, institutions, and individuals working in the agricultural sector. More than 15 major departments of the state government will actively participate in celebrating the Agriculture Year. These departments include Horticulture & Food Processing, Animal Husbandry & Dairy, Fisheries, Water Resources, Cooperation, Energy, Revenue, Forests, Cottage & Village Industries, Small, Micro & Medium Enterprises, Food & Civil Supplies, Panchayat & Rural Development, Renewable Energy, Narmada Valley Development Authority, Industrial Policy & Investment Promotion, along with Market Boards, Seed Corporations, Agricultural Engineering, MP Agro, Dairy Unions, Markfed, MP Warehousing & Logistics Corporation, and the Rural Livelihood Development Mission, among others, which will work together on employment-based development activities for the welfare of farmers.

What is the Developed Bharat (VB-GRAM-G)?

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav explained that the Central Government has implemented the Developed Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) or VB-GRAM-G Act 2025 to promote the all-round development of villages, the poor, and farmers, and to provide rural families with guaranteed employment opportunities. This law guarantees 125 days of employment per rural family, which is a significant increase from the previous 100 days guaranteed under the MGNREGA Act. Dr. Yadav emphasized that the VB-GRAM-G program will revolutionize the development of rural India and benefit the poor, agricultural laborers, and farmers. The scheme will also strengthen village development.

Dr. Yadav further mentioned that earlier, farmers struggled to find laborers for agricultural work, especially during the peak seasons of sowing and harvesting. However, the VB-GRAM-G scheme will ensure the availability of sufficient agricultural laborers during these critical periods. This Act includes provisions for states to notify up to 60 days in a financial year, with a focus on the busiest farming periods like seed sowing and crop harvesting. During these periods, no other activities will be conducted under the Act.
