Young Indian athlete Rupa Bayor has created history in Taekwondo by achieving a remarkable milestone. She has become the first Indian taekwondo player to reach the Top 5 in the World Rankings (World Rank #5).

Major Achievements and Records

• World Rank #5: As per April 2026 rankings, Rupa Bayor secured the 5th position in the World Taekwondo rankings.
• Asia Rank #1: Earlier, she achieved the No.1 rank in Asia, becoming the first Indian to do so.
• Historic Medal: In January 2026, she became the first Indian to enter the Top 10 in world rankings. She won a bronze medal at the 2024 Vietnam Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship.

Struggle and Journey

Rupa Bayor was born in a small village named Sippi in the Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. She overcame financial challenges and worked in paddy fields to support her dreams, making her journey truly inspiring.

Training

She is currently training in Mumbai at the Indo-Korean Taekwondo Academy under the guidance of coach Abhishek Dubey.
