Russia Develops First Cancer Vaccine
On December 17, the Russian Ministry of Health announced the successful development of a cancer vaccine. This was disclosed by Andrei Kaprin, Director of the Radiology Medical Research Center under the Ministry of Health, during a radio broadcast.
According to Russian news agency TASS, this vaccine will be provided free of charge to Russian citizens starting next year. Director Andrei Kaprin stated that Russia has developed its first mRNA vaccine against cancer, which is considered one of the greatest discoveries of the century.
Clinical trials of the vaccine have shown its effectiveness in preventing tumor growth.
What is an mRNA Vaccine?
mRNA or messenger RNA is a small part of the human genetic code that helps cells produce proteins. When a virus or bacteria attacks the body, mRNA technology instructs cells to produce proteins that help fight off the infection.
This technology strengthens the immune system by providing it with the necessary proteins to create antibodies. Compared to conventional vaccines, mRNA vaccines can be developed more quickly and offer enhanced immunity. This is the first cancer vaccine based on mRNA technology.
