MP Govt Employees Must Link Aadhaar & Samagra ID to Receive Salary
The Madhya Pradesh state government has issued an order making it mandatory for around 5 lakh government employees to link their service books with Aadhaar and Samagra ID to receive their monthly salaries.
This rule applies to all permanent government employees, including top services like IAS, IPS, and IFS. Without proper linkage, their salaries will be withheld from the upcoming months.
Why Aadhaar and Samagra ID?
The government states that linking with Aadhaar ensures identity verification of employees. However, no clear explanation has been given regarding the necessity of the Samagra ID.
To Extend to All Categories
Currently, the order applies to permanent employees. Soon, the mandate will be extended to contractual, daily-wage, and honorarium-based staff as well. Once expanded, this rule will affect over 7.5 lakh government workers in the state.
Technical and Practical Issues
Many employees are facing challenges due to errors in their Samagra ID details, such as incorrect names or dates of birth. Since Samagra IDs are generated via the portal, correcting these issues involves visiting municipal ward offices, creating extra workload for employees.
If there’s even a minor mismatch in data, the Aadhaar and Samagra IDs won’t link with the service book. This technical barrier is causing delays and disruptions.
Government Instructions
The Finance Department has directed all Collectors, Commissioners, and Department Heads to ensure employee profiles are verified using Samagra ID within the IFMIS (Integrated Financial Management Information System).
