Samardeep Wins Gold in Shot Put, Qualifies for Commonwealth Games

Athletes from the Madhya Pradesh Athletics Academy delivered an outstanding performance at the 29th National Senior Athletics Federation Championship held in Ranchi on May 25.

Dev Meena won the gold medal in pole vault with a national record of 5.45 meters, while his teammate Kuldeep secured the silver medal.

In shot put, Samardeep Singh Gill won the gold medal with a throw of 20.46 meters, surpassing qualification standards for both the Commonwealth Games 2026 and Asian Games.

In the 5000m men’s race, Vinod Singh won the silver medal with a timing of 14:15.50 seconds.

Dev Meena and Kuldeep both crossed the Commonwealth Games qualifying mark of 5.25 meters and also met the Asian Games standard of 5.45 meters.

Samardeep also cleared the Commonwealth Games qualifying mark of 20.36 meters and the Asian Games standard of 19.41 meters, strengthening India’s prospects in international athletics.
