India Defeats Pakistan, But No Celebrations – Surya Dedicates Win to Army and Pahalgam Victims

On 14th September, the Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. However, instead of celebrating, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav remembered the victims of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Surya dedicated the victory to the Indian Army personnel who bravely conducted Operation Sindoor in response to the attack. He stated that he stands with the families of the victims and honors the sacrifices made by the armed forces.

This match had faced significant opposition across India due to the emotional impact of the Pahalgam attack that occurred in April. Public anger was also directed at the BCCI, the government, and even the players for proceeding with the match against Pakistan.

After the match, Suryakumar addressed the nation with a heartfelt message, saying:

“We stand with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam attack and express our condolences. We want to dedicate this victory to our brave soldiers who executed Operation Sindoor with courage and sacrifice.”

Suryakumar played a match-winning knock, scoring an unbeaten 47 runs off 37 balls, including five fours and a six. Other contributions came from Abhishek Sharma who scored 31 off 13 balls, and Tilak Varma who added 31 runs off 31 balls.

Interestingly, 14th September is also Suryakumar Yadav’s birthday, making the win even more special for him. During the post-match presentation, the crowd chanted “Happy Birthday,” and presenter Sanjay Manjrekar also wished him live.

Commenting on the day, Surya said:

“I wanted to stay till the end. It’s a brilliant win, and the perfect return gift for India. Our team treated this like just another game and played with focus.”
