Three World Cup–Winning Indian Cricket Teams Honored on One Platform

Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Mukesh Ambani honored India’s three World Cup–winning cricket teams and said that sports unite hearts and the nation. Celebrating the spirit of victory, she emphasized that the country comes together to honor these players who have brought pride to India.

On January 5, at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, India’s men’s, women’s, and blind World Cup–winning cricket teams were felicitated during the second edition of the United in Triumph ceremony.

Captains of All Three Teams Present

While honoring the players, Nita Ambani said, “I believe we are beginning the new year with a very special occasion. India’s three cricket teams are under one roof today. On behalf of every Indian, we are honoring them for the joy and happiness they have brought to the nation.”

The captains of the three World Cup–winning teams—men’s team captain Rohit Sharma, women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and blind women’s cricket team captain Deepika TC—were invited on stage and felicitated.

Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the Indian men’s cricket team won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 by defeating New Zealand in Dubai after a 12-year wait. The team also won the Asia Cup in 2025 after defeating Pakistan and had earlier clinched the ICC T20 World Cup title in 2024.

Similarly, under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy, the Indian women’s cricket team won its first-ever One Day International World Cup by defeating South Africa after a long wait. In 2025, the Indian blind women’s cricket team also won the T20 World Cup by defeating Nepal by seven wickets in Colombo.

Notable Players and Dignitaries in Attendance

The ceremony was attended by several players from the three World Cup–winning teams, including Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Ganga Kadam.

Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Ravichandran Ashwin were also present, along with Olympic and Paralympic icons such as Murlikant Petkar, Deepa Malik, and Devendra Jhajharia.

Prominent figures from the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, also attended the event and encouraged the victorious players.

Through the United in Triumph initiative, Nita Mukesh Ambani not only celebrates India’s sporting victories but also honors the values, purpose, and spirit that define the nation’s sporting journey.
