Trump’s Party to Bring Bill — H-1B Visa to Be Completely Eliminated
Indian entry into the United States is likely to become more difficult. A bill will soon be introduced to completely abolish the H-1B visa program. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a close ally of President Donald Trump and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, announced that the bill will be presented soon. She accused that the H-1B visa system is being misused.
Under the “America First” policy, the H-1B visa category will be eliminated. However, she clarified that for the next 10 years, 10,000 doctors will still be issued H-1B visas annually. Currently, out of 85,000 H-1B visas issued every year, around 70% are granted to Indians.
On November 12, President Trump stated that “Americans do not have every skill, so H-1B visas are necessary.” On November 13, U.S. Treasury Secretary Besant said that “foreign skilled workers should come, provide training, and return.” Earlier in September, Trump had increased the H-1B visa fee from ₹88,000 to ₹88 lakh.
Trump Removes Tariffs on Beef, Coffee, and Agricultural Products Amid Inflation
President Donald Trump has decided to remove tariffs on dozens of agricultural products including beef, coffee, and fruits. Inflation has been cited as the major reason. In recent mayor and governor elections, inflation had become a major issue.
According to the Trump administration, this step aims to stabilize the prices of these products. The tariff burden was directly affecting consumers. Beef, coffee, tea, fruit juices, cocoa, spices, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, and certain food products have now been placed in the tariff-free category.
In recent months, prices of beef and other food items had been rising continuously. Increased import duties on major exporting countries like Brazil were also believed to be a factor. Although earlier, the Trump administration claimed that tariffs do not significantly affect prices.
The U.S. recently signed agreements with Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Argentina to reduce agricultural tariffs. The new order aligns with these agreements.
