Admissions in Engineering, MBA and Other Courses to Be Held Twice a Year
Admissions to major courses such as BE, BTech, BBA, MBA, and B Planning will now be conducted twice a year. The Technical Education Department has issued detailed guidelines for this new system.
Admissions in July and January Sessions
According to the new system, counselling for 18 AICTE-approved courses will be held separately in July and January sessions. In the July session, 100% of seats will be filled through centralized counselling.
Remaining vacant seats will be filled in the January session through a separate counselling process.
End of Delayed Admission Process
The objective of this reform is to make the admission process timely and structured. Earlier, admissions used to continue until October–November, which disrupted academic schedules and examinations.
With this new system, academic sessions will begin on time, improving the overall academic calendar of institutions.
Impact on Placements and Students
This decision is significant for 11 universities in the state offering these courses. It will not only ensure full seat occupancy but also positively impact placement opportunities.
Companies will now be able to plan recruitment based on both admission cycles, offering better job opportunities to students.
Special Academic Structure for January Batch
Students admitted in the January session will follow a slightly different academic structure. They will begin directly from the second semester and complete other semesters in a structured sequence to align both batches.
Mandatory Updates on DTE Portal
All technical institutions must upload affiliation details, intake capacity, fee structure, and course continuity information on the DTE portal by June 15.
Private colleges must also confirm participation in counselling and admission processes within the same deadline.
