Ujjain 9th and Indore 11th in Citizen Feedback Rankings

In the Swachh Survekshan rankings, Indore will once again compete among 4,909 cities for a total of 12,500 marks. This year, 500 marks have been allocated specifically for citizen feedback.

In previous years, Indore secured the top position largely due to strong positive feedback from its citizens. Around 4.5 to 6.5 lakh residents had participated earlier, with 95–96% positive responses.

However, as of May 2, only 24,364 citizens have submitted feedback, resulting in Indore currently ranking 11th. Meanwhile, Ujjain is ahead at 9th position in the citizen feedback rankings.

Other cities in Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, and Jabalpur, are also lagging behind in citizen participation. Authorities emphasize the need to increase public feedback across all cities.

Minimum 55,000 Feedback Required

The citizen feedback process for Swachh Survekshan began on April 27. Indore requires at least 55,000 valid responses to meet the criteria.

So far, 24,364 responses have been received in the first five days. The feedback process will continue until May 30.

The survey team is expected to visit Indore within the next two weeks, and feedback submission will remain open even after the survey until May 31.

Efforts to Increase Public Participation

Urban local bodies are required to collect feedback from at least 10% of their population. To achieve this target, Indore Municipal Corporation has deployed 100 intern students.

These interns are encouraging citizens at malls, educational institutions, IT parks, and commercial areas to submit their feedback. Additionally, NGO workers associated with the municipal corporation are conducting door-to-door campaigns to gather responses.
