Unified Public Wi-Fi Password Across India – OTP Hassle Reduced
The government, learning from the shortcomings of the PM-WANI system, is preparing to launch a new and advanced public Wi-Fi network. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the user experience and make digital payments more secure.
Users will no longer need a separate OTP for each hotspot. Across 4 lakh hotspots nationwide, users will be able to log in with a single OTP or password. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a consultation paper seeking public feedback on this plan.
To ensure public Wi-Fi security, standards such as Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 (WPA3) will be implemented. This will provide an additional security layer for safe UPI and digital payments, even in crowded areas.
