USA Imposes 245% Retaliatory Tariff on China

On April 16, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a ban on the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of 35 fixed-dose combination (FDC) drugs. These drugs, which include painkillers, nutritional supplements, and anti-diabetic medications, were found to be unsafe and ineffective without prior evaluation.

The FDA directed all state and union territory drug controllers to halt the production and sale of these FDCs. The move aims to protect public health and ensure that only safe and effective medications are available in the market.

In response, pharmaceutical companies are urged to comply with the regulations and review their approval processes to align with the Drug and Cosmetics Act of 1940 and the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules of 2019.

This decision underscores the FDA's commitment to safeguarding public health by ensuring that only approved and thoroughly evaluated medications are available to consumers.
