Women for Tree Campaign to Continue Until August 31
The ‘Women for Tree’ campaign will run from June 5 to August 31 with a focus on intensive tree plantation. The initiative will involve Amrit Mitra Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to assist in the plantation activities.
According to Chief Municipal Officer K.S. Uikey, plantation sites have already been inspected as part of the preparatory work. During the inspection, women from SHGs, the nodal officer of the Amrit Mission, and the NULM in-charge were present. The officials honored the participating women and raised awareness about tree plantation.
The campaign was launched under Amrit Mission 2.0 with the slogan "One Tree in the Name of Mother". In the first phase, 50 women from self-help groups visited five identified sites to inspect the on-ground conditions. They were familiarized with the sites and prepared to take responsibility for plant care.
Urban Manager Vinit Kumar informed that the women’s group will continue to take care of the planted trees for the next two years, ensuring their maintenance and growth.
