World Yogasana Championship 2026 Begins with Participation from 60 Countries
In a historic step for Indian sports and global wellness, the first edition of the World Yogasana Championship 2026 was officially unveiled on June 2 in New Delhi. The announcement was made by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in the presence of federation officials and sports representatives.
The championship is being held from 4 June to 8 June 2026 at EKA Arena, Ahmedabad. Athletes and participants from nearly 60 countries are taking part in the prestigious international event.
The World Yogasana Championship aims to establish Yogasana as a globally recognized competitive sport. The event highlights India's efforts to promote yoga beyond wellness and transform it into an internationally accepted sporting discipline.
The championship is also considered an important milestone in India's initiative to secure future Olympic recognition for Yogasana, further strengthening the country's role in promoting yoga and holistic health worldwide.
