On January 17, 2026, the world’s largest natural Purple Star Sapphire was officially unveiled in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The gemstone, named “Star of Pure Land”, weighs an astonishing 3,563 carats, making it the largest sapphire ever discovered.

According to international gemstone experts, the estimated value of this rare sapphire ranges between $300 million and $400 million, which is approximately ₹3,300 crore. Due to its extraordinary size, color, and star effect, the gemstone has attracted global attention from collectors and gemologists.
