Zonal Monitoring Initiated Under AMRUT 2.0
Under AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0), the process of zonal-level monitoring and review has been activated, particularly to ensure the achievement of targets for the year 2025–26.

AMRUT Manthan–2026 (January 2026)
State-level workshops such as AMRUT Manthan–2026 are being organized to review project progress. These workshops focus directly on monitoring the performance of zonal and regional projects.
Status of Projects
Under AMRUT 2.0, more than 3,516 water supply projects worth over ₹1.18 lakh crore have been approved so far. These projects are being monitored through a dedicated online portal.
GIS-Based Master Plan (Sub-Scheme)
As part of the sub-scheme to prepare GIS-based master plans for 675 Class-II cities, monitoring is underway in cities across various states such as Odisha and Rajasthan. This initiative supports regional-level planning and development review.
Drinking Water Survey
A Drinking Water Survey is being conducted to promote healthy competition among cities and ensure water quality, forming an important monitoring mechanism under the mission.
Amrit Mitra (Self-Help Groups)
Women are being engaged as “Amrit Mitras” to participate in water demand management, water quality testing, and monitoring of various projects. This strengthens community-level oversight.
Mission Targets
Monitoring is focused on achieving 100% sewerage and septage management coverage in 500 cities and providing tap water connections in all statutory towns.
AMRUT 2.0 was launched on 1 October 2021 and will continue until 2025–26. The primary objective of the mission is to make cities water-secure, sustainable, and self-reliant.
