देश में पिछले कुछ दिनों से कोरोना वायरस इन्फेक्शन के मामले फिर से बढ़ने लगे हैं। ओमीक्रॉन वैरिएंट के नए सब वैरिएंट JN.1 को संक्रमण के मामलों में तेजी के लिए जिम्मेदार माना जा रहा है। स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, 22 दिसंबर को देशभर में कोरोना संक्रमण के 640 नए मामले सामने आए। इसके साथ ही ऐक्टिव केस यानी कोरोना के वे मरीज जो अभी ठीक नहीं हुए हैं, उनकी संख्या बढ़कर 2997 हो गई है। केरल में एक और मरीज की मौत हुई है।
