Devi Ahilya University students are facing difficulties while filling out exam forms for first-year UG courses like BCom, BA, and BSc. More than 20,000 students have still not filled their forms. The major reason for the delay is the change in the number of subjects—major subjects have increased from two to three, and minor subjects from one to two. Additionally, multi-disciplinary subjects have been introduced for the first time, and students are expected to select vocational subjects as well. However, many students have chosen both subjects from the vocational stream, causing confusion and technical issues. The university has sent detailed guidelines to colleges and extended the deadline for first-year exam forms to February 28th.
However, this extension applies only to the first-year exams. For second, third, and fourth-year students, the exam form submission deadline remains February 10th, after which late fees will apply. The late fees range from ₹100 to ₹1,000, depending on the delay. Third and fourth-year exams will begin on March 5th, while the second-year exams will start on April 16th. The first-year exams will be the last to take place.
In 2021, a new education policy was implemented, which resulted in several changes in the academic structure, leading to confusion not only among students but also among colleges and kiosk centers. Many students are facing difficulties in submitting their forms due to the changes in the exam pattern. This year, the foundation subjects have been reduced to two subjects, Hindi and English, and the topics of Yoga and Women Empowerment have been removed. Moreover, the exams for these subjects will no longer be held together on the same day.
