रक्षामंत्री राजनाथ सिंह की अध्यक्षता में 30 नवंबर को हुई डीएसी की बैठक में इन अहम रक्षा खरीद प्रस्तावों को प्रारंभिक मंजूरी दी गई। रक्षा मंत्रालय के अनुसार खास बात यह है कि 2.23 लाख करोड़ रुपए के इन पूंजीगत अधिग्रहण प्रस्तावों में से 2.20 लाख करोड़ रुपये (कुल राशि का 98 प्रतिशत) का अधिग्रहण घरेलू उद्योगों से लिया जाएगा। इस कदम से भारतीय रक्षा उद्योग को 'आत्मनिर्भरता' के लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने की दिशा में पर्याप्त बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

रक्षा मंत्रालय के मुताबिक डीएसी ने एचएएल से भारतीय वायु सेना और भारतीय सेना के लिए लाइट कॉम्बैट हेलीकॉप्टर और लाइट कॉम्बैट एयरक्राफ्ट (एलसीए) एमके -1 ए की खरीद के लिए प्रारंभिक स्वीकृति दे दी है। रक्षा मंत्रालय ने इनकी संख्या का उल्लेख नहीं किया है मगर आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने बताया कि वायुसेना के लिए 97 तेजस एलसीए मार्क1ए खरीदे जा रहे हैं, जबकि सेना और वायु सेना के लिए 156 हल्के लड़ाकू हेलीकॉप्टर (LCH) प्रचंड खरीदे जा रहे हैं।

Preliminary approval was given to these important defense procurement proposals in the DAC meeting held on November 30 under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The Defense Ministry has not mentioned their numbers but official sources said that 97 Tejas LCA Mark 1A are being purchased for the Air Force, while 156 Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachanda are being purchased for the Army and Air Force.
