According to the data released by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of the country on 26 June 2018, 43.63 percent of the total population of the country has Hindi as their mother tongue. It is a matter of pride for us that Hindi is the most widely spoken language in the world after Chinese. The importance of Hindi language can be understood from the fact that in Article 343(1) of the Constitution of India , Hindi in Devanagari script has been declared the official language of the Union. Certainly, in the current scenario of globalization and privatization, in view of India's growing economic relations with other countries, the need for inter-education of the languages of the respective economic partner countries has started being felt. Along with this, the interest in Hindi language is also increasing day by day among foreigners. This is the reason why many countries have established teaching centers to promote Hindi language in their countries. Foreign students also consider Hindi to be a popular and easily learnable Indian language.


It is worth mentioning that with the immense popularity and growing international importance of Hindi language , employment opportunities in the field of Hindi language have also increased tremendously. It is compulsory to work in Hindi language in various departments of the Central Government and the governments of Hindi speaking states. Hence, there is a plethora of various posts like Hindi Officer, Hindi Translator, Hindi Assistant, Official Language Manager, Stenographer, Typist etc. in various departments and units of the Central and State Governments. It is worth noting that with the advent of private television channels and FM radio channels and the Hindi versions of established newspapers and magazines, employment opportunities in this field have increased tremendously. There is a great need of editors , correspondents , reporters , news readers , sub-editors , proof readers etc. in the field of Hindi media and journalism. For those who wish to get employment in these fields, it is very important to have academic qualification in Hindi along with a degree or diploma in journalism , mass communication. One can also make a career as script writer , dialogue writer , lyricist for radio , television , cinema etc. In this field, creative writing in a natural and artistic manner is necessary. One can also do translation of works of international writers into Hindi and translation of works of Hindi writers into other languages. One can also do work of translating film scripts , advertisements into Hindi or English but to make a career in this field, it is necessary to have bilingual proficiency. A person skilled in this field can earn his livelihood as a freelance translator and after gaining experience, can also establish his own translation firm.

Due to the reach and increasing popularity of Hindi, major international publishing houses have not only started publishing Hindi books but have also started publishing translated versions of books achieving good sales targets in Hindi on a large scale. Hence, there are bright career opportunities in these institutions as translators , editors and composers. There is a great demand for those who know proof reading and Hindi typing in newspapers and magazines and publishers. You will find many people who can type in English but typing in Hindi is still difficult for people. If along with having a command over the Hindi language, Hindi typing is also learnt, then one can earn good money by working in a publisher's office. There are bright employment opportunities abroad for candidates who have done post graduation and PhD in Hindi language. As a result of Hindi being accepted as a business language by some countries, there is a tremendous demand for Hindi language teachers in foreign universities. In India, one can also adopt the traditional teaching profession as a teacher in schools , colleges and universities. There are also countless opportunities for those who want to make their career in the field of teaching. After doing BA , B.Ed. one can become a TGT teacher/secondary school teacher. Today there is a demand for TGT teachers all over the country. The demand for PGT teachers/higher secondary school teachers is also no less. After getting 55 % marks in MA Hindi and clearing NET, doing M.Phil. , PhD gives the qualification to teach at college and university level. Hindi professors are also appointed in non-Hindi speaking states. Their job is to enable the non-Hindi speaking employees working in government offices to work in Hindi.

It is worth mentioning that the Scientific and Technical Terminology Commission works under the Government of India. Here scientific and technical words of Hindi and all other Indian languages are defined and new words are developed. Here also there are many employment opportunities for people proficient in Hindi language along with knowledge of English. Today there are hundreds of television channels on which programs are broadcast in Hindi. Even English channels like Animal Planet , Discovery Channel and National Geography have to make programs in Hindi. The market of Hindi has become so wide that these foreign channels have also been forced to broadcast in Hindi language. Innumerable serials are being broadcast in Hindi. These serials require script writers. Foreign companies are also now preparing advertisements in Hindi. If you want to work in the field of advertising, then there is no dearth of name and fame in this field. When foreign channels and foreign media came to the country, it seemed that the existence of Hindi would diminish , but the utility of Hindi is such that today the most watched channel and the most read newspaper are in Hindi only. Hindi cinema has also emerged as a powerful medium for the people. Many websites including BBC are running their own Hindi portals. Microsoft has also launched an operating system in Hindi to establish its dominance through Hindi.

After globalization, Hindi has seen rapid changes. Today, the situation is such that Hindi is formally taught in more than 100 institutions in America. Today, a large number of foreign students are coming to India to learn Hindi. Many technical jobs are being found on the strength of Hindi. Looking at the future and market of Hindi, it would not be wrong to say that the coming time will be even more employment-oriented for Hindi professionals. Today, the situation is that the shortage of good Hindi language experts is increasing. The demand is very high but qualified professionals are not available to fulfill it. It can be said with confidence that Hindi language has tremendous power , which will definitely get you employment. Graduation , post graduation , M.Phil , PhD etc. can be done in Hindi language. Apart from this, diploma and PG diploma courses are also available. After doing these courses or other Hindi language related courses like translation , creative writing, many employment opportunities are available.
