IIT Ropar Announces New Scholarship for Meritorious Students

In view of growing mental health challenges among students and young professionals, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar recently hosted the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Dr. Ishan Avdhut Shivanand Yogic Science and Holistic Development Centre. The center will be a multipurpose hall designed to accommodate various wellness activities such as yoga, meditation, gymnastics, aerobics, and mindfulness practices.

The ceremony was chaired by Professor Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar. On this occasion, the Dr. Ishan Shivanand Meritorious Youth Scholarship was officially unveiled.

Under this scholarship program, ten fully funded scholarships will be awarded to academically gifted students from underprivileged backgrounds. The scholarships will be equally distributed between five undergraduate and five postgraduate students.

According to the Director of IIT Ropar, these scholarships aim to ensure that talented youth do not fall behind due to financial constraints. He emphasized that the initiative represents an investment in India’s future by supporting deserving students and promoting holistic development.
