राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मु ने 11 जनवरी को आठवें स्वच्छता सर्वेक्षण के आधार पर विजेताओं को पुरस्कृत किया। नवी मुंबई ने तीसरा और विशाखापत्तनम ने चौथा स्थान कायम रखा है। इंदौर और सूरत पिछले वर्ष पहले और दूसरे स्थान पर रहे थे लेकिन इस बार सूरत ने बेहतर प्रदर्शन करते हुए मुकाबला टाई कर दिया। दोनों सेवन स्टार रेटिंग वाले शहर हैं।

पिछले वर्ष से तुलना की जाए तो शीर्ष चार स्थानों में कोई फेरबदल नहीं हुआ है, लेकिन भोपाल छठे स्थान से उठकर पांचवें नंबर पर आ गया।

सबसे स्वच्छ राज्य की श्रेणी में महाराष्ट्र ने मध्य प्रदेश को पछाड़कर पहला स्थान हासिल किया। छत्तीसगढ़ तीसरे नंबर पर रहा। महाराष्ट्र और मध्य प्रदेश के दो-दो शहर सबसे साफ शहरों (एक लाख से अधिक आबादी वाले) की टाप-10 सूची में शामिल हैं।

Navi Mumbai has retained the third position and Visakhapatnam has retained the fourth position. Indore and Surat stood first and second last year but this time Surat performed better and tied the match. Both are seven star rated cities. If compared with last year, there has been no change in the top four positions, but Bhopal has moved up from sixth position to fifth position. Maharashtra secured the first position in the category of cleanest state by defeating Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh stood at third place. Two cities each from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are included in the top-10 list of cleanest cities (with a population of more than one lakh).
