अल साल्वाडोर की राजधानी सैन साल्वाडोर में हुए ब्यूटी पेजेंट प्रतियोगिता में 18 नवंबर को निकारागुआ की शेन्निस पलासियोस को साल 2023 की मिस यूनिवर्स चुना गया है। शेन्निस पलासियोस को मिस यूनिवर्स का खिताब मिला और थाईलैंड की एन्टोनिया पोर्सिल्ड प्रतियोगिता की उपविजेता रहीं। पलासियोस मिस यूनिवर्स बनने के साथ ही निकारागुआ की ऐसी पहली महिला बन गईं, जिन्होंने ये उपलब्धि हासिल की है। इस साल की मिस यूनिवर्स प्रतियोगिता में 84 देशों की मॉडल हिस्सा ले रही थीं।

शेन्निस पलासियोस निकारागुआ की जानी पहचानी मॉडल हैं। उन्होंने साल 2017 में टीन मिस यूनिवर्स प्रतियोगिता में निकारागुआ का प्रतिनिधित्व किया था। 2021 में मिस वर्ल्ड प्रतियोगिता में भी वह अपने देश की ओर से हिस्सा ले चुकी हैं। 23 साल की शेन्निस पलासियोस मॉडल होने के साथ-साथ वॉलीबॉल की अच्छी खिलाड़ी हैं। वह यूनिवर्सिटी लेवल पर वॉलीबॉल खेल चुकी हैं। शेन्निस पलासियोस निकारागुआ की राजधानी मंगुआ में पली बढ़ी हैं। उनके पास मास कम्युनिकेशन की डिग्री है। बहुत कम उम्र में ही वह मॉडलिंग की दुनिया में आ गई थीं। वह 2016 में पहली बार चर्चा में आई थीं, जब उनको मिस टीन निकारागुआ 2016 चुना गया था। इसके बाद साल 2020 में शेन्निस को मिस वर्ल्ड निकारागुआ चुना गया।

मिस यूनिवर्स शेनिस पलाशियो को अमेरिका की आर बोनी गेब्रियल ने ताज पहनाया। इवेंट में ऑस्ट्रेलिया की मोरया विल्सन दूसरी रनर अप रहीं। भारत की ओर से इस इवेंट में हिस्सा लेने के लिए 23 साल की श्वेता शारदा गई थी। हालांकि श्वेता टॉप 10 में भी जगह नहीं बना पाईं। इस बार पाकिस्तान ने भी मिस यूनिवर्स पैजेंट में डेब्यू किया था। हालांकि वह भी टॉप-10 में जगह बनाने में कामयाब नहीं हो सकीं।

She has played volleyball at the university level. Shennis Palacios grew up in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. He has a degree in Mass Communication. She entered the world of modeling at a very young age. She first came into limelight in 2016, when she was chosen Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016. After this, in the year 2020, Shennis was chosen Miss World Nicaragua.

Miss Universe Shanice Palacio was crowned by R. Bonnie Gabriel of America. Australia's Morya Wilson was the second runner up in the event. 23 year old Shweta Sharda had gone from India to participate in this event. However, Shweta could not even make it to the top 10. This time Pakistan also debuted in the Miss Universe pageant. However, she too could not succeed in making it to the top-10.
