भारत के 8 पूर्व नौसैनिकों की मौत की सजा के खिलाफ लगाई गई याचिका को कतर की अदालत ने स्वीकार कर लिया है। मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स द्वारा 24 नवंबर को मिला जानकारी के अनुसार जल्द ही मामले में सुनवाई की तारीख भी तय की जाएगी। भारत सरकार ने करीब 15 दिन पहले नौसैनिकों की सजा के खिलाफ अपील की थी। हालांकि, इस मामले में अब तक कतर या भारत सरकार की तरफ से कोई आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं की गई है।

विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता अरिंदम बागची ने 9 नवंबर को अपील दायर करने की जानकारी दी थी। उन्होंने कहा था- भारत को इन सैनिकों से मुलाकात के लिए दूसरा कॉन्सुलर एक्सेस भी मिल गया है। भारत सरकार लगातार कतर के संपर्क में है। यह बेहद संवेदनशील मामला है।
