यूनाइटेड लिबरेशन फ्रंट आफ असम (उल्फा) का तीन दशक से अधिक पुराना सशस्त्र संघर्ष खत्म हो गया है। गृह मंत्री अमित शाह और असम के मुख्यमंत्री हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा की उपस्थिति में उल्फा (अरबिंद राजखोवा गुट) के प्रतिनिधियों ने 29 दिसंबर को त्रिपक्षीय शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर कर दिया। इसके साथ ही असम स्थायी शांति की दिशा में आगे बढ़ गया है।

शांति समझौते के बाद उल्फा के 700 सशस्त्र कैडर हथियार डालकर मुख्य धारा में लौट जाएंगे। इसके पहले बोडो, आदिवासी, कार्बी और दीमासा उग्रवादी गुटों के साथ समझौता हो चुका है, जिससे 7,500 से अधिक सशस्त्र कैडर मुख्य धारा में लौट चुके हैं। उल्फा से शांति समझौते के बाद कुल 8200 सशस्त्र कैडर का हथियार छोड़कर मुख्य धारा में लौटना असम में शांति के लिए बड़ी बात है।

The more than three decade old armed struggle of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) has ended. The tripartite peace agreement was signed on December 29 by representatives of ULFA (Arbind Rajkhowa faction) in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. With this, Assam has moved towards permanent peace. After the peace agreement, 700 armed cadres of ULFA will lay down their arms and return to the mainstream. Before this, an agreement has been reached with Bodo, Tribal, Karbi and Dimasa militant groups, due to which more than 7,500 armed cadres have returned to the mainstream. After the peace agreement with ULFA, a total of 8200 armed cadres giving up their arms and returning to the mainstream is a big thing for peace in Assam.
